Update on the red-tailed hawk from Cranberry (March 1)
All arrangements were made for the red-tailed hawk’s return trip to PROWLS from OWL Orphaned Wildlife Rehabilitation Society in Delta. When being placed in the crate it was noticed the infection on its leg had suddenly flared up- possibly from an embedded blackberry thorn?
Placed once again on antibiotics, its reservation on Pacific Coastal Airlines was cancelled for now and surgery was booked. It will be another two weeks before this lovely bird is returned back to Powell River…
Wish this hawk luck! We saw it for injuries related to being stuck between two wire fences. It had been previously banded, and upon transfer to OWL we learned it had been rescued and released in Pemberton.
