Our Volunteers

PROWLS is a 100% volunteer-driven organization. Our volunteers carry out every single aspect of our operational and organizational requirements, and demonstrate an inspiring willingness to act on behalf of their passion for wildlife and nature.

If you love Powell River wildlife and are inspired by the work we are doing, we hope you will also consider getting involved! Volunteering in any capacity is an exciting opportunity to learn about our local wild species and ecology, while giving back to nature and the community.

If you are just too busy, membership to PROWLS can be a simple and rewarding way to be involved without making a significant time commitment.

Volunteer with us!

Due to Covid-19 social distancing guidelines, PROWLS is unable to train new volunteers to work with us inside our tiny hospital at the moment. As busy season approaches, there are other tasks we will need help with that can be done safely, including foraging and outdoor facility maintenance tasks. See below for details!

Your volunteer contributions of time, labour are essential to our operations. Even if you can only help once every other week, your efforts will make a difference.

We value all skill sets and levels of experience, and can find a job for anyone! We also have many tasks that can be done from home. Please note that volunteers under 18 will be legally unable to work directly with wildlife.

Please contact us directly and let us know if there’s any way you can offer your spare time to us!

Current volunteer call-outs

Fundraiser needed!

if you have experience fundraising or would like to give it a try PROWLS needs you! Given the number of critters coming in now (we have had over 400 so far this year) the costs are rising rapidly. You could choose the project and run with it (approval from the Board is necessary). It would be finite- a one-off contribution and you go away proud of your contribution.

So, all those imaginative people out there, we need you! Contact us today.

Outdoor facility maintenance needed!

Helpers, please! Merrilee would really really appreciate help at the PROWLS site. Any time that you could spare would make a difference to the often overwhelming work, even if it is just a couple of hours a month. We need help cleaning cages, organizing, and general maintenance of the outdoor areas. All work will be done with COVID 19 precautions taken, ie masking up and keeping the 2 metres distancing from others.

Please, if you are able to volunteer your time, contact us today!
