Blackbird bounces back at PROWLS

Blackbird

QUICK RELEASE: The victim of a cat grab, this young blackbird rebounded well at Powell River Orphaned Wildlife Society on a regime of antibiotics and painkillers.

It was healthy and released within two weeks behind the BC SPCA Powell River and District Branch where it had been rescued by staff.

Blackbirds are usually seen in meadows, lawns, parks, and often around livestock as they like to pick insects off of them.

Mostly seedeaters, when insects are thriving in summer, blackbirds pick them out of midair during flight.

This region’s greatest concentration of Blackbirds is near Powell River Airport.
